With any good conservation initiative comes a strong education program.
Education initiatives which run alongside projects such as the reintroduction
program at Umphafa ensure that it will be a success as you are working
closely with and educating the local community.
Umphafa has several education goals
- To give local children the opportunity to learn about the indigenous
wildlife in their area
- To educate the local community on new findings and their implications
from relevant research undertaken at Umphafa.
- To educate the local farmers on more sustainable farming techniques
which minimize their impacts on the local ecosystem.
- To raise awareness of the endangered status of many species found
at Umphafa.
- To raise awareness of the problem of introduced non native plants
and how to control them.
- To raise awareness within the local community of the conservation
issues facing many species in their region and practical action which
can minimize their impact on wildlife populations.
